FLUID is a collective exhibition held by Adiwana Bisma, a newly launched resort in Ubud, Bali. Adiwana Bisma invited 11 artists and the art community to unfreeze Bali’s art during this unprecedented situation to provide a space of creativity for the artists to transform the abnormal into arts.

Besides, eights artist from Rurung Gallery community: Brutalmark, Donikdangin, Dwymabim, Kidney, Mutaseight, Nedsone, Pansaka, and Zolalongor will also collaborate in this art exhibition at Adiwana Bisma.

FLUID in Indonesia language means cairan – liquid. The exhibition represents the character of liquid, a character of adapting to any given space. Tough time forces us to stay still. We are trapped in a box, not able to meet with the like-minded. The space is limited, the group has to divide, and no one knows how this will end. A fluid is a character that will break all these limitations. The resilience will fit through any space given; it will blend with any means and ideas. This exhibition is a representation of it. Collectively combine various artwork mediums, adjust them in a challenging venue with all of its limitations, and finally create a new streamline that has been dry for a while.

“Bringing very different things from what we usually do, in fact, giving us hope. It is challenging to provide exhibition space in this unprecedented situation, but I hope the exhibition can be done regularly. It shows that the art community in Bali and tourism, especially hotels, could support each other. It is time to show that the hospitality industry could melt with the local artist community then work together for the new era,” said I Gusti Ngurah Swijana, General Manager of Adiwana Bisma Ubud.

Without breaking and moving the existing hotel’s facilities, the artists are challenged by Adiwana Bisma to bring a new atmosphere into the resort. It is definitely hard for the artist to respond to space in the resort. “For me, it was like I had been holding my pee for years. And then now I am given time to pee and drink as much as water I want,” said Kuncir Sathya Viku, a Balinese controversial artist.

FLUID will be held on 28 November – 26 December 2020. In a calm Ubud atmosphere, the Opening will be held on Saturday, 28 November 2020, at 16:00-21:00 with live music and a performance from Rurung Gallery during the best sunset time at Adiwana Bisma rooftop. The exhibition, FLUID, will also bring various programs, including discussion, workshop, weekend pop up market, and an intimate art tour with the artists.

The pop-up market is another interesting event that will be held during the Fluid exhibition. This idea aims to support local small businesses especially in this unprecedented situation. With more than 10 local enterprises with different products from healthy food, fashion, art, and eco-conscious products will be showcased every weekend for 3 consecutive weeks during the exhibition. The organizer of this pop-up market as well as the business owner of Pasar SamaRasa, Pritha Razad, said, “These uncertain times has changed the way we live and has taught us to do beyond our limit.” Linda Wiryani, also the business owner of Pasar SamaRasa added, “Let’s appreciate everyone who sees this challenge as an opportunity and at the same time, contribute to an act of sustainability. Support local businesses, and give back to the local community.”

In addition, part of the funds raised from this pop-up market will be donated to the Plastic for Rice Campaign by Adiwana Hotels & Resorts.
