Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort invites local standup comedian, Ernest Prakasa for an afternoon of fun and laughter in partnership with UNICEF
‘Laughter is the best medicine’, they say. In view of the annual UNICEF Check Out for Children challenge, Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort teamed up with a group of talented standup comedians to bring out a lighter side of things. The resort will be hosting a fun(d)-raising standup comedy called : FOR EVERY CHILD, LAUGHTER showcasing the talents of some of the hilarious, creative and entertaining members of Standup Indo Bali and a main headline act from Ernest Prakasa on 26 October 2017 from 7.00pm – 9.30pm at the Sahid Ballroom of Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort.
The UNICEF Check Out for Children Challenge is a staff fundraising competition between Starwood Hotels, now Marriott International, which began in 1996 and continues to gather strong support throughout the Asia Pacific region. UNICEF and Starwood Hotels & Resorts celebrated over 20 years of the Check Out for Children partnership to raise funds for the world’s most vulnerable children.
Stand Up Indo BALI was established on 20 November 2011 by 3 friends, Jayanthi Pemayun, Kalpika Wijayanti and Ernest Prakasa to provide a platform for budding comedians to showcase their hidden talent in Bali. The idea came when Ernest won the 2nd runner up in Kompas TV’s Stand-Up Comedy Indonesia Season 1. They hosted open mics and comedy shows to encourage awareness in the local communities. Ernest then went on a solo comedy tour across 11 cities in Indonesia and now developed his talents into film industry wth blockbuster films such as Cek Toko Sebelah, Ngenest and soon to be released, Susah Sinyal which is slated to release in December 2017. He is also a great role model, juggling between film shootings, authoring books and spending quality time with his wife and 2 young children, Sky and Snow.
“In our annual UNICEF challenge, we have always opted for health and fitness in mind, hence our events were fun runs, Body Combat, Freeletics and Zumba. However, this year, we wanted to bring joy and laughter instead. After all, it is the best medicine. The collaboration between us, Standup Indo Bali and Ernest has been great and we are proud to contribute to this amazing program. We are looking forward to bringing together as many fans together as possible to raise money for a good cause” says Dario Orsini, General Manager of Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort.
The partnership has committed to providing all children, everywhere in Asia Pacific with access to clean water and basic sanitation.
