KILORUN BALI 2018 A GREAT SUCCESS

Index Creative Village and Thai AirAsia‘s Initiative to Promote Ubud through Tourism Sports Event

Iconic destination in Bali, Ubud, was proud host to the successful KILORUN BALI 2018 held on 2-3 June. The event is part of the series Kilorun 2018 running festival organized by Thailand’s Index Creative Village Plc., the no. 7 event agency in the world supported by Thai AirAsia Co., Ltd. This running series combines running, eating and travelling, taking place throughout the Asia’s four iconic cities: Bangkok in Thailand, Ubud in Indonesia, Osaka in Japan, and Hanoi in Vietnam.

Around 1.150 participants joined the 2-day event running around the beautiful Scared Monkey Forest area.

Mr. Kreingkrai Kanjanapokin, Founder & Group CEO for Index Creative Village Plc. and the Event Organizer, commented, “KG Run, one of the key categories of the race, included an exclusive line-up of Indonesia’s best-known dishes. Former US president Barack Obama’s favourite local food Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Stir-Fried Rice), Satay Ayam (Indonesian Chicken Skewers), Bebek Goreng (Deep Fried Soft Bone Duck) and other national delicacies beloved by the local.”

“Similar to KM Run held in Bangkok, the race in Bali offered a scenic and historic marathon course as it wound its way along the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, Ubud Palace, Museum Puri Lukisan, and more,” he added.

Total prize given out for Bali race event was 216 million Rupiah and 10 round-trip flight tickets, with the grand prize of flight ticket to Osaka for the next Running series in September.

For the first race day, Saturday June 2, around 350 food and sport lovers registered for the KG or Aroi Run. KG is the walking/running route that is measured by kilograms, where finisher medals were given out those that gained 0.5 KG and 1KG. Runners could select dished from 11 local Ubud restaurants offering favorite Balinese & Indonesian cuisine. Finishers of the race, male and female awarded best fancy-dress costumes took home a round-trip flight for two from Bali to Bangkok and a specially-designed “Baowiw” plush doll.

Second day of race, Sunday June 3, more than 800 participants joined the fun crowds of KM or Breakfast Run, with options of 3 categories; S Run, M Run, and L Run. Finishers of the Long Run (10 km), male and female category, were awarded a round-trip flight for two from Bali to Bangkok, a round-trip flight for two from Bali to Osaka, a two-night accommodation for two at Club Med Bali and a Baowiw plush doll.

Mr. Kreingkrai Kanjanapokin, Founder & Group CEO for Index Creative Village Plc. and the Event Organizer, mentioned, ”The first KILORUN 2018 series held in Bangkok had more than 2,600 runners including stars, celebrities and public figures, challenging their best limits. Around 19 Thailand celebrities joined the Bali Run including actress Woranuch Bhirombhakdi.”

“We are happy that this 2nd course in Ubud attracted more than 1,150 participants. We aim to promote fitness and health in communities across ASEAN countries, encouraging athletes of all levels to share their run experience, and help boost Bali’s local economy through food and drink choices, historical landmark, culture and tradition,” he added.

AirAsia and AirAsia X are currently operating across all four routes, as well as other routes for runners and visitors who wish to join the run. The total prize value for these 4 destinations is more than 1.3 billion Rupiah.”

After the KILORUN BALI 2018, runners who still want to test their limits can sign up for the next series that will be taken place in Osaka, Japan scheduled for 30 September, the “KILORUN OSAKA 2018”. Runners of this third series race will enjoy a unique city-centric race that will take them running past some of Osaka’s iconic landmarks, while food lovers will be given the perfect opportunity to indulge in authentic experience of Osakan cooking.
