RUN FOR YOUR WELL-BEING MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL RUN TO GIVE 2021

Virtual Run to Give is back. Following the previous successes of the event in the past couple of years, Marriott’s portfolio of hotels and resorts in Indonesia will be holding their second virtual charity run event again this year, Run for Your Well-Being, Run to Give 2021.

‘Run to Give’ is an annual Marriott Asia Pacific program that has become an integral part of the company’s commitment to cultivate a people-first environment that promotes associates’ well-beings and drives its people to care for the communities where they do business. This year, 57 hotels from Marriott International hotels and resorts in Indonesia will come together to raise funds to support the Bali Children Foundation as well as Marriott associates, who have been significantly impacted by the downturn in business during the pandemic.  This month-long event will take place from October 1 to October 31, 2021.

In addition to its fundraising objective, the Run to Give 2021 highlights the importance of its associates’ health and well-being, especially with the pandemic and social distancing measures that have been implemented for almost 2 years. The pandemic has significantly affected people’s health and well-being to unprecedented measures; therefore, health and well-being have become a luxury as COVID-19 affects communities worldwide. With this in mind, Marriott Indonesia through the 2021 Virtual Run to Give invites its associates and the general public to join the run, take some time to reflect, and care for their bodies and minds.

Arun Kumar, Chairman of the Indonesia Business Council and Managing Director of The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta.  said, “We have been holding this event for 8 years now. Although this event was held virtually last year, we see this virtual run as more than just a popular alternative. As the pandemic takes away our luxury to physically gather, the 2021 Virtual Run to Give keeps us connected while championing the same cause. Health and well-being have always been important and essential, even more during these difficult times. Through this event, we want to invite everyone to take their much-needed escape from the all limiting at-home routine and run for their health and well-being. At the same time, we aim to help the affected people in need by joining the virtual run and to raise funds to donate.”

In cooperation with Bali Children Foundation, this year’s virtual run proceeds will be going towards helping thousands of children to complete school, to find employment, and to improve their lives and the life of their community, as well as towards the distribution of a ‘Bersama Box’ filled with basic food items and necessities for approximately 4,000 associates across the country.

Besides the General Managers and other hotels’ associates, the general public can also join the run and support the cause. Runners everywhere are encouraged to run solo or in a team and are invited to participate in ways that are safe for them to do so: running in their neighbourhood, local park, yard, or even in the living room, whilst continuing to practice social distancing.

“The annual charity run is an integral part of our company’s TakeCare movement, which aims to empower associates to live by Marriott’s philosophy. We know that work can be busy, but we encourage our associates to pause and take care of their physical and mental well-being. We believe that by taking care of ourselves first, we can take care of others better. Our Virtual Run to Give provides them with the chance to be part of a community that appreciates, respects, shares kindness and contributes to society,” said Titus Rosier, General Manager of W Bali – Seminyak and Chairman for Virtual Run to Give 2021.

This event has a registration fee of AU$15 (approximately Rp155,000), and as part of the registration, participants will receive an e-Certificate.
