Reviving the art of Bali’s indigenous

cuisine with Dapur Bali Mula

In celebration of Indonesia’s Independence Day, The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud, Bali invites you to experience the indigenous flavor of North Bali regional cuisine. The one-night only event will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the resort’s signature authentic Indonesian restaurant, Tabia. Chef MangkuGedeYudiawan from Dapur Bali Mula, Les Village, Buleleng will take over the restaurant for the special evening.

Chef Yudiawan is known for his passion in preserving the food of Bali Mula or indigenous cuisine of Bali. Since moving back to his village five years ago, he has been working to revitalize indigenous cooking methods, spices and ingredients of North Bali. For the event, he will bring freshly-caught seafood as well as locally grown and produced ingredients from Les Village. Armed with traditional herbs and spices such as tabia bun, sea salt and juruhor palm sugar; Yudiawan will regale the guest with not just nourishing seafood but precious tales of Balinese kitchen, traditional recipe and secrets ofthe spices.

Starting at 6.30pm, Tabia’s indoor and outdoor seating areas will be transformed by the wafting fragrant aroma from dishes such as LawarGurita, LawarDon Tabia Bun, Sate Lilit, SerapahGurita, CumiSunaCekuh, Pepes Ikan, Tuna Plalah, andSambal Matah. Served on a generous ngiubamboo platter with rice and a bowl of Sup Ikan, taste eight tasty and nutritious dishes made from scratch and end your Balinese Spice Journey with a refreshing Daluman with Santan.
