W Bali – Seminyak is delighted to collaborate with the world-renowned pastry chef and chocolatier all the way from Singapore, Janice Wong. Held from 2-4 September 2022, this exciting collaboration will be filled with sweets as Janice Wong herself will be hosting fun activities, from cocoa planting and an edible chocolate painting class to the extra sweet Sunday brunch.
Chef Janice Wong’s never-ending passion for the culinary arts has propelled her forward to push the boundaries of dessert-making. The native Singaporean has learned from some of the world’s best chefs, including US luminaries Thomas Keller and Grant Achatz, virtuoso Spanish chocolatier Oriol Baaguer, and prodigious French pastry chef Pierre Hermé.
She has won multiple awards, including being named “Asia’s Best Pastry Chef” for two years in a row by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards.
Located on the grounds of W Bali – Seminyak, the 326 square-meter lush chef’s garden provides high-quality fresh produce including micro-greens, herbs, edible flowers as well as fruits and vegetables. In conjunction with the revitalization of the garden, there will be an exquisite addition such as a cocoa plant – where we will be planting cocoa seeds to produce the best quality of chocolate.
This momentum is inspired by Janice Wong’s passion to grow cocoa trees across Asia and W Bali – Seminyak’s sustainability approach, including an initiative to reduce food waste and plastic usage as well as gardening to improve the environment and help reduce carbon footprint.
Set to inspire us all, Janice Wong will also be presenting an edible chocolate painting class at W Lounge on Saturday, 3 September 2022 during a special T Party with Janice. This art class features her edible chocolate crayon and paint – an artistic adventure in an explosion of colors and flavors that can be consumed afterwards.
To end the weekend, Bali’s best Sunday brunch is presented with a special edition – Sweet Super Brunch with Janice Wong. Norberto Palacios, Director of Culinary at W Bali – Seminyak is offering a creative variety of savory dishes including fresh seafood, an oyster bar, a Pan-Asian cuisine station, and many more.
This special edition will not be complete without sweets to cleanse the palate. Chocolate lovers can rejoice as Janice Wong will bring you a sweet experience where there’s a delectable chocolate buffet for guests to enjoy. She will showcase some vibrant installations at W Bali – Seminyak’s Great Room with hanging lollipops and edible colorful chocolate – providing perfect Insta-worthy moments to capture.
