Offering Daily Classes, Practices and Yoga Teacher Training Program
Alchemy Yoga and Meditation Center (AYMC), in Ubud Bali, is an enchanting, comfortable green space dedicated to promoting the well-being of all who enter. AYMC offers a wide range of services, including yoga classes for all levels, along with meditation, sound healing, and holistic wellness. Instructors are highly certified within industry standards, deeply immersed in their practice, and provide a memorable experience for students.
AYMC offers a number of class types, events, workshops, immersions, and yoga and meditation teacher trainings, to serve students wherever they are in their journey. In addition to the regular meditation and pranayama classes, and asana based practices, students can further explore other yogic practice such as mantra, mudra, pranayama, dharana, dhyana, bhāvanā, kriya, laya, and puja.
Daily classes are linked to elements of earth, water, fire, air, ether, and krama, a class with a sequence that is unique to AYMC. Each class type provides students with a unique approach to the practice that can be suitable at different times for different experience levels, daily energy, or personal preference.
Earth
Emphasizes a balance between standing and floor poses to help build strength, stability and range of motion. Postures are held for longer periods of time, allowing the opportunity to explore appropriate alignment and breath, while also challenging the stamina. Appropriate for yoga beginners and adepts.
Water
Explores the human body in a flow of movement, weaving together sequences of postures linked with the breath, in order to help build strength, coordination and focus. Appropriate for experienced students.
Fire
Builds internal heat through strong and challenging postures and repetitive movements, emphasizing arm balancing postures and core work in these practices. Appropriate for students who want a strong physical practice to dive deeper into themselves.
Air
Emphasizes the breath, gentle restorative postures, often supported with props, with long periods of time in each posture allowing to move through bodily sensations via the waves of breath. Appropriate for both beginners and experienced students.
Ether
Explores the subtle realms through meditation, breath, mantra and kriya, allowing students to sit in stillness and dive deeply into the Self. This practice is appropriate for beginners and adepts.
Krama
A unique set sequence at the AYMC, the practice is designed to give students a physically and mentally well balanced practice, addressing the needs of the modern practitioner. The sequence of postures is always the same, giving the opportunity to learn through repetition and develop both the confidence as well as the physical skills to eventually explore a more dynamic postural practice. Appropriate for those new to yoga or to more experienced yogis.
In addition to classes, trainings and community events, AYMC offers diverse events in collaboration with prominent yogis, teachers and performers, such as Ecstatic Dance, Gong Ceremony, Shamanic Breathwork, Kirtan or singing of Sanskrit mantras together, Qi Gong, Mantra Practice, and inspirational talks.
AYMC also believes in the power of study by providing education for teachers and a comprehensive yoga training program, through their 1,000 hour teacher training curriculum. The 1,000 hour Alchemical Path starts with the Alchemy Yoga 200 Hour Teacher Training program, a transformational 4-week intensive Yoga Teacher Training designed to give people the foundational tools necessary to teach yoga. The path continues with over 800 hours of additional trainings, modules and immersions, designed to help teachers expand their knowledge and skills. The Alchemical Path also includes a one of a kind 50 and 100 hour training, the Earth Module, that doesn’t spend any time exploring the skills to teach, but instead provides students with the opportunity to deeply immerse into the practices and understandings of Tantra and Yoga.
Ashton Szabo, head yoga teacher at AYMC, has been a life-long practitioner of yoga and the spiritual arts. In his mid-twenties, he went on a six year odyssey across the world to study yoga and mysticism. Living in India, Southeast Asia and South America, he learned from great saints, shamans and yogis. In 2012, he returned to the United States with his family where he taught Kashmiri Shaiva Tantra and Yoga in ways that are accessible and relevant to the modern practitioner. He moved to Bali with his family in 2020 to help create AYMC.
“Yoga gives us an opportunity to explore our relationship with Being, in all of its layers,” says Ashton Szabo, general manager of AYMC and yoga teacher. “We can explore the relationship we have with our body, our breath, our feelings and thoughts, as well as how we relate to others and our environment. The practice encourages us into a deep intimacy with everyone and everything. We have people coming in from all walks of life, all ages,” he continues. “It’s just really amazing to see everybody under the same roof on their mat and how we just all come together as a community.”
