The skies over Bali are set to dazzle as the Jupiter Aerobatic Team and Neptunus Aerobatic Team, both from Indonesia, along with Australia’s F-35A Lightning II, take flight at the Bali International Airshow from September 18 to 21, 2024. This four-day spectacle will showcase the mastery and precision of elite pilots through exhilarating aerial displays, promising to captivate audiences with breathtaking performances.
Flying displays will occur daily, offering multiple chances for attendees to witness these remarkable feats. The event kicks off on September 18, with the first show scheduled for 10:30 AM Indonesia Central Standard Time (WITA), followed by performances at 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM, each lasting 20 minutes. From September 19 to 21, the skies will light up with four performances daily at 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 3:30 PM.
“As hosts of the Bali International Airshow 2024, we are proud to present the extraordinary talents of the Jupiter and Neptunus Aerobatic Teams. These displays are not just exhibitions of skill but symbols of Indonesia’s growing prominence in aviation and aerospace,” said H.E. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment. “Our teams reflect the innovation and excellence of our nation, and we are thrilled to share their performances with the world.”
The Jupiter Aerobatic Team, part of the Indonesian Air Force, will fly six KT-1B Wongbee aircraft, recognized for their vibrant red and white designs and impressive aerobatic abilities. Known for appearances at prestigious events like the 2023 Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition and the 2024 Singapore Airshow, the team will execute complex formations with their KT-1B Wongbees, reaching speeds up to 350 knots (648.2 km/h).
Joining them is the Neptunus Aerobatic Team from the Indonesian Naval Aviation Center, performing with six Bonanza G36 light aircraft. While their manoeuvres differ from those of the Jupiter team due to the distinct nature of their aircraft, the Neptunus team guarantees equally thrilling and crowd-pleasing performances. The Bonanza G36, with a wingspan of 10.12 metres and a top speed of 205 knots (463 km/h), has long been a favourite, featuring in events like the 2016 Indonesian Naval Aviation Anniversary and the 2018 Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo in Lombok.
The F-35A Lightning II, piloted by the Royal Australian Air Force, will fly solo. This cutting-edge fighter, renowned for its stealth and supersonic capabilities, reaches speeds of Mach 1.6 (1,960 km/h) and performs with unmatched agility and power, demonstrating the latest in air combat technology.
“This airshow highlights Indonesia’s role in the global aerospace and defense industries,” added the Minister. “With the backing of international and local aviation stakeholders, we are confident that the Bali International Airshow 2024 will solidify our nation’s position on the world stage.”
