The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel Celebrate Earth Day with Tree Planting Initiative

Heritage Associates Join Forces to Preserve Bali’s Environmental Legacy

In commemoration of Earth Day, The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel, part of The Heritage Collection, hosted a meaningful tree planting ceremony with their long-serving Heritage Associates at the botanical garden within Sanur’s Special Economic Zone. This garden serves as a living symbol of environmental conservation and Bali’s traditional medicinal heritage.

The event honored the exceptional dedication of Heritage Associates—staff members who have served for decades, dating back to the Grand Inna Bali Beach era. Management proudly invited these loyal employees to be among the first to witness the botanical garden’s development and participate in the Earth Day planting ceremony.

Under the theme “Root of Wellness,” the initiative represented both a reflective moment and tangible action by the hotel’s team toward environmental sustainability. Heritage Associates from various departments gathered to plant indigenous species including white cempaka, yellow cempaka, and ylang-ylang—ethnobotanical plants with significant spiritual, medicinal, and ecological value that contribute to the preservation of local wisdom and tropical biodiversity.

The botanical garden embodies The Meru Sanur’s commitment to Tri Hita Karana principles, harmony between humans, nature, and spirituality. It serves as an open educational space showcasing traditional medicinal plants and Bali’s biodiversity conservation efforts.

“This tree planting symbolizes not only our love for the earth but also acknowledges the dedication and loyalty of employees who have been essential to our hotel’s journey,” said Mr. Ed Brea, General Manager of The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel. “We believe that small steps, like planting a single tree, create positive impacts for our planet’s future.”

The celebration included a guided tour of the botanical garden led by Ms. Rahma, Director of Wellness, who explained the garden’s concept and benefits. This shared experience strengthened team unity while advancing the mission of environmental stewardship and Balinese cultural preservation.

Through this initiative, The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel reaffirm their commitment as promoters of holistic wellness and cultural heritage preservation for both guests and staff alike.
