EPHEMERAL brings together the exquisite terracotta busts and intricate crowns and headpieces crafted by kaleidoscopio.studio. These pieces are meticulously fashioned from natural materials commonly found in Balinese rituals and ceremonies, adding a touch of familiarity and authenticity to their artistry. Reflecting a serene and meditative aura, they also possess a decorative charm that captivates the eye with their visual beauty.
Kaleidoscopio.studio delves into visual anthropology and aesthetic arts as part of its ongoing exploration. They showcase the artisanal talents of local artists, serving as a perpetual wellspring of creative inspiration. Central to their ethos is the theme of ephemerality, symbolized by the delicate materials like organic leaves, bamboo, rattan, and handmade paper, mirroring the transient nature of the concept itself. Through skilled artisanal techniques, including sculpture, photography, print, and window dressing designs, they bring Balinese cultural elements to life.
Visitors to the John Hardy gallery in Seminyak can immerse themselves in these captivating artworks and installations from 18th April to 31’st May 2024, with free entry. Alongside the exhibition, the gallery will host a complimentary cyanotype workshop and various social events, fostering a sense of community and celebration of art and Indonesian heritage.
