HOTEL CAFÉ ROYAL LONDON LAUNCHES DIPTYQUE AFTERNOON TEA

Hotel Café Royal London is proud to announce a collaboration with leading French perfumer and artist diptyque to create an Afternoon tea inspired by a selection of the iconic brand’s most popular scents. The “diptyque Afternoon Tea” will be available exclusively in the gilded splendour of the Oscar Wilde Bar at the hotel, recently awarded the title of ‘Best Traditional Afternoon Tea’ in the 2017 Afternoon Tea Awards, and launches at the start of September 2017.

Transforming the classic Afternoon tea experience into an indulgence for the senses, the hotel’s lauded Executive Pastry Chef, Sarah Barber, has created four new sweet delicacies in conjunction with diptyque, each one using the flavours and ingredients to be found in four of their scents. In addition to the classic Afternoon tea served, guests will enjoy the following new items, corresponding to diptyque’s Roses, Vanilla, Violette and Verveine scents:

1. Rose Victoria – A Victoria sponge with a raspberry and rose jam and a lychee and rose mousse, topped with silver leaf and crystallised rose
2. Tahitian Vanilla Bar – Tahitian vanilla sponge topped with hazelnut praline feuillatine and a Valrhona ‘Opalys’ ganache
3. Violet and Cassis Tart – A sweet pastry tart with a violet cream and blackcurrant jam
4. Lemon Verbena – A verveine infused lemon cream with an orange crémeux on a sablé Breton base

As well as the new items from the hotel’s award-winning pastry team, each guest enjoying the “diptyque Afternoon Tea” will receive a beautifully gift packaged 70g Baies candle to take away, diptyque’s most popular scent, a combination of Bulgarian roses and blackcurrant leaves.

Priced at £60 per person or £65 paired with a glass of Laurent-Perrier NV, the diptyque Afternoon Tea is available from 2pm until 5pm Monday to Wednesday and from noon until 5pm Thursday to Sunday.
