IHG HOTELS & RESORTS BALI INTRODUCE SUSTAINABLE MICE INITIATIVES

As a renowned MICE destination, Bali has long attracted meeting planners to take advantage of the island’s comprehensive facilities for both small scale and large events. Bali offers distinctive meeting and event experiences that continually impress global participants. The island’s captivating culture paired with genuine people and local environments compares to no other place in the world.

With a focus on the future, InterContinental® Hotels Group (IHG) Bali is proud to introduce a cluster initiative for sustainable meetings designed to promote environmental and cultural awareness to all delegates. Under IHG Hotels & Resorts Bali, InterContinental® Bali Resort, Hotel Indigo Seminyak, Hotel Holiday Inn Benoa and Holiday Inn Baruna are all committed to implementing environmentally sustainable practices into their respective MICE frameworks.

This entails offering meeting delegates the opportunity to take a break from their business agendas to participate in a range of different cultural and sustainable activities. The options available include a turtle release program conducted on the beach in cooperation with the local Turtle Conservations and Education Center. There is also the chance to visit a hydroponic farm to plant some of the various organic vegetables that supply our restaurants. Another alternative is generously contributing time and/or resources to underprivileged children and schools around Bali. In addition, a traditional Balinese blessing ceremony can be performed prior to each event and this is followed up by using eco-friendly meeting amenities such as paper straws, local coffee and snacks, and more.

“We are pleased to launch this cluster meetings initiative amongst IHG Hotels & Resorts Bali to help preserve our own local environment as well as continue supporting the global IHG campaign for sustainability. IHG has consistently implemented sustainable efforts across all brands with the aim of treading a little lighter and taking more care of the communities that surround us,” comments Carol Waller, Area General Manager of Holiday Inn Resorts Indonesia and IHG Bali representative in charge for Environmental and Sustainability.
