Following an extensive 12-month $50 million renovation, the pristine, secluded Lizard Island resort just reopened amid the natural beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, uninterrupted by the rest of the world, with 24 virtually untouched white sand beaches.
The extensive renovations include the refreshing and expanding of coveted suites throughout the property as well as the addition of a new, stand-alone two-bedroom suite, The Villa, with a butler’s kitchen, plunge pool, wrap around deck and uninterrupted views across Sunset Beach and Coral Sea.
A dedicated wine and cheese room has been added and the Salt Water Restaurant will now feature an open air kitchen with stunning views along the seascape, opportunities to interact with the Executive Chef and their team and a dinner menu that changes daily depending on the freshest local produce and ingredients available.
The property has also relocated and expanded their spa, adding additional treatment rooms and a dedicated manicure and pedicure room. The new Essential Day Spa will be a luxurious and serene retreat offering a menu of pampering spa and wellbeing treatments complemented by organic products by high-end French based brand La Biosthetique, as well as mediation and personalized yoga.
Highly experienced and respected creative team, OPV Architects and Hecker Guthrie were chosen to re-design the interiors. Using the stunning views from each room as the hero for their design, they have created interiors which naturally integrate with the surrounding environment. The new color palette combines neutral tones with highlights of colors from the Reef including coral, blue and gold.
Accessible only by plane, Lizard Island rests discreetly within the island oasis. Their 40 elegant and private rooms and suites provide stunning views of the Australian seascape, and reef activities such as snorkeling or diving right off the beach and deep-sea game fishing reveal a diversity of life beneath crystal blue waters. With everything a guest might need on the island including five-star dining, an amazing spa, stunning accommodations and a variety of excursions, it is an ideal destination for guests to unplug.
