In celebration of World Environment Day 2025, Marriott Business Council Indonesia has launched the “10,000 Mangroves for Indonesia” initiative—an ambitious project symbolizing collective responsibility for the planet. Bringing together more than 75 Marriott Bonvoy hotels and resorts across the archipelago, this program focuses on revitalizing critical mangrove ecosystems in regions such as Bali, Jakarta, Bintan, Labuan Bajo, and beyond. In collaboration with local NGOs, the initiative reflects a united commitment to environmental restoration, extending far beyond a single day of action.
As the world’s largest archipelago, Indonesia’s coastlines are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Mangroves, with their ability to stabilize shorelines, purify water, support marine life, and store carbon, play a vital role in climate resilience. Through this movement, Marriott Business Council Indonesia aims not only to plant trees but to nurture hope—restoring balance in coastal ecosystems and encouraging others to take meaningful steps toward sustainability.
Aligned with Marriott International’s global Serve 360 commitment, this initiative serves as a tangible expression of the “Nurture Our World” pillar, where business becomes a vehicle for positive change. It unites associates, communities, and travelers around a shared purpose: safeguarding the beauty and vitality of Indonesia’s natural heritage. Each planting site becomes a symbol of unity, resilience, and Marriott’s long-standing dedication to responsible hospitality.
By restoring 10,000 mangrove trees, the initiative embodies Marriott’s belief that meaningful impact begins with local action. From the green shores of Denpasar to the educational wetlands of Muara Angke and beyond, this journey is about more than conservation—it’s about inspiring a legacy. A legacy where hospitality serves not only guests, but generations to come.
