The Apurva Kempinski Bali Sets New Standard in Luxury Hospitality with GSTC Certification

The Apurva Kempinski Bali is setting a new standard in Indonesia’s luxury hospitality by becoming the first hotel in the country to receive the prestigious Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Certification. This recognition highlights the resort’s commitment to environmental, social, cultural, and governance excellence.

The GSTC is a globally respected organization that promotes best practices in sustainable tourism. Their certification supports four key pillars: Sustainable Management, Social Impact, Cultural and Community Preservation, and Environmental Stewardship.

Key Highlights of The Apurva Kempinski Bali’s Sustainable Practices:

Effective Sustainability Management: The resort integrates sustainable practices through ethical policies and procedures, supported by a dedicated ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) team that continuously improves initiatives.

Social and Economic Benefits for the Local Community: The resort employs 21.7% local hires and runs a Sustainable Agriculture program with Samsara Living Museum, teaching eco-farming techniques to local farmers. This program supplies the hotel with fresh produce, supporting the local economy. The resort also partners with educational institutions like the Bali Culinary Pastry School to provide training and job opportunities.

Cultural Heritage Preservation: The resort celebrates Indonesian culture through performances, art, and architecture. Its annual campaign collaborates with partners to create unique guest experiences that highlight Indonesian traditions and heritage.

Environmental Impact Reduction: The resort uses science-based methods to minimize its environmental footprint. Initiatives include a Hydroponic Rooftop Garden, Waste Management, Sustainable Weddings, and an Electric Vehicle Experience. Additionally, a partnership with Eco-Tourism Bali has launched a mangrove planting program, starting with 1,000 seeds.

“Receiving the GSTC certification is an honor and reaffirms our commitment to sustainable tourism,” said General Manager Vincent Guironnet. “We strive to provide luxury experiences while driving positive change in the industry. Our goal is to create memorable experiences for our guests and contribute to a sustainable future.”
