After two years of a struggling period, Bali is back to welcoming the world with its exceptional Balinese hospitality that has long been engrained to the culture of the people here, on the Island of Gods. This time, it is the G20 Indonesia 2022. The world leaders descended on the island of Bali on the 13th – 15th of November 2022 to participate in the G20 Bali Summit that took place on the 15th – 16th of November 2022.
In harmony with its motto, “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”, this summit focuses on understanding the challenges and the need for collective actions and inclusive collaboration among major developed countries and emerging economies around the world. Recognizing the grand scale of this summit, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali and its adjacent Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) rose above convention and expertly handled specific aspect of this prestigious international event, which included a series of high-profile meetings, press conferences, exhibitions, as well as hosting journalists and reporters from across the globe.
All 433 of the resort’s guestrooms have become the home away from home for delegates and a number of Head of Delegates from different countries and continents during the event while they were pampered by the warm hospitality extended by the associates. Meanwhile, BICC with its extravagance was transformed into a state-of-the-art Media Centre for respected national and international media agencies. This includes converting meeting spaces into offices, studios, VIP dignitaries’ exclusive venues, media lounge, and other functions to cater the diverse needs of the summit’s participants.
To mention a few details, the grandeur of Mangupura Hall was refashioned to international broadcasting center, live reporting station, and sophisticated working space for at least one thousand journalists and reporters. While the inspiring and interactive exhibition extended around the foyer of BICC. The elegant Auditorium was also utilized to host high-level press conferences commenced by the President of Indonesia, H.E Joko Widodo; the President of Turkey, H.E Recep Tayyip Erdogan; the President of France, H.E Emmanuel Macron; and the Prime Minister of Italy, H.E Giorgia Meloni.
In supporting the sustainability energy transition initiative of this conference, the spacious parking area of the resort has also been equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles that led the road during the week-long event. During this engaging week, the appetites of participants were carefully taken care of by the resort’s culinary team lead by the Executive Chef, Matt Mittnacht. Versatile dining options were exclusively prepared with the signature “Eat Well” philosophy in mind to ensure that the participants were ready to rise for the day.

These tarts highlighted the island’s very own Bali coffee, coconut sourced from the local coconut plantains, and the enticing Bedugul strawberries.
