Café Del Mar Bali is coming to the Island of the Gods this August.
One of Europe’s favourite sunset bars is headed for South East Asia with Ibiza icon Café del Mar arriving in Bali this August. Making a beachfront home for itself in the surfing haven of Canggu, Café del Mar Bali promises to make waves when it lands on the Island of the Gods mid-year.
Visitors to Bali’s first Café del Mar Beach Club can expect all of the laid-back luxury enjoyed at the brand’s other 15 venues scattered around the globe. Founded in 1980 in Sant Antoni de Portmany on the Spanish island of Ibiza, Café del Mar has since blossomed into one of the world’s most revered entertainment venues, with the group excited to bring its festivities (including those famed sunset celebrations) to Bali.
Just like the Ibiza original, Café del Mar Bali will treat guests to the best in food and drinks just steps from the ocean. There will be a bounty of creative cocktails at the venue’s many bars, alongside a Mediterranean-inspired menu which will be interwoven with local Indonesian favourites and embrace a farm-to-table focus. Guests will be able to drop by for lunches that linger until Bali’s famed sunset, with revellers welcome well into the night to drink, dine and dance under the stars.
It’s no surprise that music will form a key focus for the lauded new beach club, considering that Café del Mar is also the world’s leading Chill House music label, and the birthplace to one of the longest running and most successful music compilation series in history.
As for the space itself, Café del Mar Bali occupies a palatial white building inspired by the original architecture of Café del Mar Ibiza, combined with a nod to its new Indonesian address. Designed by architect Rafael Pasaribu and local firm Aboday Architects, the impressive Café del Mar Bali includes a large feature pool, private VIP cabanas, a luxury restaurant, all-day casual dining, and a selection of different bars. Considering Café del Mar’s reputation for outstanding live music, it is no surprise that the Bali outpost will integrate world-class staging and AV that caters to the large scale, outdoor music events set to take place regularly.
“We’re thrilled to be expanding further into Australasia, offering new guests the same unforgettable Café del Mar experience,” says Café del Mar Australasia CEO John Zappia. “The Café del Mar lifestyle is renowned worldwide for iconic sunsets, sophisticated dining and amazing live music events. This is our first large-scale expansion and the opportunity in these thriving tourist destinations was evident. Our guests will be able to sit back with a cocktail in hand, watching the sunset while building special memories with family and friends”.
“Bali is the perfect location for Café del Mar,” Zappia continues. “With international tourist numbers increasing year-on-year, the island is set to become ‘the new Ibiza’ with a growing market for music-based events. As the brand continues to grow, guests will always enjoy a stand-out experience with a fusion of the best Balearic music and hospitality. An offering that will continue to set us apart as we expand into Asia.”
Café del Mar Bali will open early August 2019 and will celebrate with a launch party over the October long weekend in 2019, and a special grand opening event spread across three days in early 2020, featuring a selection of leading international DJs.
Café del Mar Bali is just one of the three new outlets of the Ibizan lifestyle brand headed for Australasia in coming months. News of Café del Mar’s launch in the Maldives and Bangkok will follow shortly.
